Project Tango is a large-scale initiative focused on the production of green hydrogen and green ammonia in Antofagasta, Chile. From this region, with exceptional solar and wind resources, we will produce renewable energy that, together with desalinated water, will be processed in a 500MW electrolysis plant to obtain green hydrogen and later green ammonia. This project integrates harmoniously and collaboratively with the community and industry, maximizing the development and use of local resources. We seek to supply local and international markets in Europe and Asia, contributing to the global green hydrogen and green ammonia economy.

Timeline

2010-2020
2010-2020

International studies are being conducted in Patagonia to assess the feasibility of a green hydrogen export corridor to Europe.

2020
2020

Chile presents an action plan to position the country as a world leader in the production and export of green hydrogen and derivatives. We have signed the first agreement to explore a corridor from the Argentine and Chilean Patagonia. Evaluations of the Tango Project in Chile are now underway.

2021
2021

We are combining efforts with Linde and Vopak, initiating technical-economic pre-feasibility studies for the production and export of green hydrogen from Chile to Northwestern Europe and potentially to the rest of the world / international markets.

2022
2022

Gasco joins as a local player, and technical-economic pre-feasibility studies begin. A comprehensive evaluation of Chile was conducted, including wind and solar resources, electrical grid, water, port infrastructure, industry, and exclusion areas. Chile presents a worldwide competitive advantage for the development of green hydrogen and ammonia.

2023
2023

The conceptual studies begin, allowing for a deeper exploration of the feasibility of the Tango Project. Progress is made in studies optimizing the optimal configuration of the project.
